Re: vacation rentals

Surfrocker,
I'm afraid there's not much you can do not to make the world AROUND you to turn into Cali or America in general (it's happening already, did you notice?).
What you can do is not to make YOUR world be like that. Keep thinking different.

I heard of one flying fish accident here in Maui too. I heard of many more car accidents though.

PS. Don't forget that this part of the forum shares the users with the HSM forum. Over there, it's quite useful to know weight and size of the sailor. For example in case he/she wants to know what's the best quiver of sail sizes or something like that...

Re: vacation rentals

Actually why are we putting our heights? Weight relates to board, sail and fin size and beer consumption related to blood alcohol level, but none of my formulas have a height factor. Am I missing sonething?

Re: vacation rentals

Ah, ok, sorry guys, I’m quite a crook when it comes to the technical side of windsurfing. Well, I’m a crook on the other sides of ws, too. Not even thinking about life…so thanks for the info, I shouldn’t visit GP’s Maui only on the HSM homepage.

Dolf, if I understood you right, you are able too get that drunk that the alcohol in your blood has influence on your board choice ?!  Man, think I could learn a lot from you!

[quote=Cammar}'m afraid there's not much you can do not to make the world AROUND you to turn into Cali or America in general (it's happening already, did you notice?)[quote/}
(yeah, the quote should look different, but wtf ...)

Europeans of course grow up with a lot of American influences, which brings these nooses who are about to ruin other peoples life more bucks for unnecessaries.

A young guy was murdered at the station in Brussels last year. Not for his idiot nikes, but for his mp3 player. But that’s still nothing compared to the level of street criminality in the US.
In Antwerp a young right extreme ran amok with a gun and murdered foreign looking people, in eastern parts of Germany these people have to fear for their lives showing up in a whole lot of places. Students running amok in their schools happens, too, and that happened first in the USA.

I’m tempted to mention the murder of Theo van Gogh in Amsterdam, but that was a so called terrorist attack. When I said that I had doubts about 9/11 I still did believe that was planned by the Al whatever guys. If they didn’t whose to blame for the European terror attacks. The media in Europe seems to be censored, too, I didn’t hear or read much about doubts in the investigation of 9/11. Scary, we all maybe don’t know what’s happening on the panet, what they really doing in Afghanistan, for example !?

So thanks for the advice to think different, I’ll keep on trying that. Time for surf church now.

Re: vacation rentals

Head's up.
Maui Council Member, Mike Victorino has introduced a resolution stop enforcement until new laws can be passed to regulate vacation rentals.  The county government is slowly beginning to come around and understand the importance of this cottage industry, but progress is painfully slow.  Mike Victorino had the courage to want to do something about this situation and he needs support.  The other council members need to hear from you, before it's too late.
WOULD YOU PLEASE:   call, fax or e mail our council members to help them understand how important this issue is, how much you support Council Member Mike Victorino's resolution and urge them to support it too.   Tell them this issue can't wait until June.  Give them examples of financial hardship they can relate to and point out the difficult economic times ahead.  If you own a business that benefits from our industry, please point out that your business also will suffer, and so will your employees.

When you send these letters, please cc Mike Victorino's office:  michael.victorino@mauicounty.us

Mike needs to know we support his actions to the max.   (Feel free to send him a personal "mahalo" as well).

This is the order of priority from those most likely to least likely to be persuaded:
a.       Joe Pontanilla (808) 270-5501 Fax: (808) 270-5502 joseph.pontanilla@mauicounty.us
b.      Mike Molina (808) 270-5507 Fax: (808) 270-7247 michael.molina@mauicounty.us
c.       Bill Medeiros (808) 270-7246 Fax: (808) 270-7247 bill.medeiros@mauicounty.us
d.      Danny Mateo (808) 270-7678  Fax: (808) 270-7717 danny.mateo@mauicounty.us
e.       Michelle Anderson (808) 270-7108 Fax: (808) 270-7119
michelle.anderson@mauicounty.us
f.        Riki Hokama (808) 270-7768 Fax: (808) 270-7848 riki.hokama@mauicounty.us

We know we have the support Jo Anne Johnson and Gladys Baisa, though we're not sure where they stand on a resolution rather than a law.  So it certainly wouldn't hurt to e mail them also: joanne.johnson@mauicounty.us and gladys.baisa@mauicounty.us   If you have any trouble getting the e mail addresses from this update, simply go to the http://www.mvra.net and click on "contact your elected officials".
