2004 Super Freak Development
Using his knowledge of modern design Jeffrey Henderson is developing a high performance sail constructed exclusively from Dacron and PVC that is structurally reinforced with a liberal use of Kevlar®. Henderson explains, "I wanted to revive the colors and brilliance of windsurfing with a sail construction using the most modern technologies". The resulting Super Freak is exactly that; one of our lightest weight sails, extremely durable, with a PVC window that will not haze and that can always be kept crystal clear using any glass cleaner.

Jeff designed the Dacron panel layout to minimize the potential of stretching. Stands of Kevlar® rope have been sewn in and around the sail to control the stretch of high load rigging. The primary function of the Kevlar rope is as a support skeleton to each Dacron panel. The luff of the Super Freak is soft with the 3rd, and 4th batten stopping before the mast sleeve. This design allows the sailor to power and de-power on demand. Inherent with Dacron the Super Freak is silent while sailing, each shock, bump, and flip of the sail is dampened through the Dacron membrane. You've never sailed a sail as user friendly and as forgiving as this freak of nature! Below Federico La Croix "flies" along a Maui lip. Photo: Anselm Pauls
