Topic: Light wind photos

Hi GP,

super nice photos of your light wind 5.5 sailing day .
Do you still use the N.P. carbon s.d. boom have
the same too . How do you compare the boom to
the H.S. booms ? O.K. i know the N.P. is more narrow
than the H.S. ? Would like to changed to H.S. booms
would you recommend it ?

Thanks and Aloha Uwe

Re: Light wind photos

Uwe,
if you're talking about the photos of my last post: http://mauisurfreport.blogspot.com/2007 … wind.html, sorry I probably wasn't clear... those photos are from an old photoshoot and the sail is a 4.7. I corrected the text and it should be more clear now.
I don't have any photos of the recent light wind sessions (too busy sailing myself), but Dolf posted that beautiful one on his "happiness is" post...

Boom: it might have had the NP logo in its early day (gone now), but it's a Fiberspar. I love it's light weight and its thin diameter. I replaced the arm ends at least four times (10 bucks, easy to replace), the head and the terminal a couple of times each (easy to find an old complete boom at garage sales for 50 bucks) and I've been using it for a few years now.
Actually I had a short but intense relationship with a Arrows boom (pretty good too, just slightly heavier maybe), but it ended when it snapped.
I'm the worse person to ask about HSM booms, since the only one I tried was a SM and only for three sessions. I was getting used to it, but then Jeff needed it back. Can't express an opinion.
The other forum users can help...

BTW, I caught two-waves-two with an 88l Seal and I loved it. Too early to make a complete report, I'll do it when I'll more time on it. For sure it's pretty damn different. In my particular case, I'm used to all kind of weird boards, longboards, short longboard prototypes, etc... and that makes me a particularly quick receptor of new shapes.
In other words, if you only sail regular windsurfing boards, it will take you more time to get used to it.

Re: Light wind photos

I would love to give the 102 Seal a try too, but unfortunately my friend didn't get that one... so expect more feedbacks on the 88 (and the smaller one). But not anytime soon... this week looks killer for surfing, not windsurfing.

Re: Light wind photos

Hi GP ,

sounds good would nice to hear about the different feel when
using with single compared to the tri fin option .

Warmest Aloha  Uwe

Re: Light wind photos

Hi Uwe,

I may have to do that for you. I detect a thruster bias here and seem to be the lone voice of reason that believes that a single fin has a inherent engineering advantage.

Unfortunately we are coming to the end of this trip so I will be asking Glenn for a go in March and I would put one of my real single fins on it.
