Did you see that old soft sail back-winding him in the windier section? Brings back some nightmares for sure & makes me happy at the modern gear we enjoy!
Yes, true, but I suspect that radical turns of the kind RN was making in the video would be harder with modern sails on a longboard - heavier, more downward pressure at the mast foot, center of effort much further forward, slower to de-power. Having extensively sailed a sail very much like the one in the video over the past year, I can confirm (what we all knew) that in any real wind it is harder, but it is lots of fun. It is a different sensation, and a great match for a longboard (not eager to try it on a short board, though). Bring on the HSM version, please.
