Topic: Windsurf HERO Wide Digital Camera

Hi Giampaolo,
I need your advise, I want a gopro with an helmet and a boom/mast mount.
Do you know if there is a dealer on Maui?
I found those items and I'm wondering if there is a difference betwen the "surf hero" and the "helmet hero"...?

Why that stupid question? Because on that page:
http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?ar … oductid=11
it's says not compatible with the wide angle... I'm confuse, it's just about mounts...

So last question; do you use a wide or normal lense?

Anyways, sailing may be fun today, I see you there!

Cookie,
as I told you at the beach (but this may be interesting for someone else), get the helmet hero for the head band. And get the roll bar mount accessories for the boom.
Wide angle 100 times better than the non wide angle.
Good luck!

Cool!
The top of the mast mount seems a bit wobbly though...

GP,
Isn't it the (bicycle) seat post mounting kit that best fits the boom?  I think the roll bar kit fits the mast.

I used an RDM adapter like this:

But it was broken. I think with one like this, in good state it would be fine.

The camera wasn´t in the top of the sail. It was 1 meter above the boom.

Mmm... the idea is ok, but I'm still afraid it won't be sturdy enough... let us know!

Brian, are there two different mounts for a roll bar and a sit post? I didn't even know...

Yeah, the handlebar/seat post kit mounts to tubes/frames ranging from 0.75" to 1.4" (1.9cm - 3.5cm) in diameter, and the roll bar kit mounts to tubes/frames ranging from 1.4" to 2.5" (3.5cm - 6.35cm) in diameter.  Otherwise they're similar.

So, the handlebar/seat post mount works well on booms - I think that's what you have.  The roll bar mount fits a mast - I know it fits RDMs, but I think it will also fit standard diameter masts.  With the mast mount, you either have the camera turned by 90 degrees, or use one of the extra pivoting arms to have the camera in the normal orientation.

Re: Windsurf HERO Wide Digital Camera

Thanks for the info!

BTW, I bought longer screws and with those I can put the handlebar/seat post kit mount on the mast too. It just barely fits and of course the curve of the mount doesn't match the one of the mast, but it still works...

Re: Windsurf HERO Wide Digital Camera

Have you see this www.flymount.com ? It might be an option for you - as it was designed BY windsurfers FOR windsurfers. Perfect for mounting your camera to the mast or boom.  And there will be distribution in Maui... check it out!
