Topic: political opinion on the US presidential race

Like many Americans, I am at a loss on how to make a diference when it comes to the governing of my country. I hate the mudslinging-name calling and dishonest campaigning and posturing. Those that say, "If you don't vote you have no right to complain.." aren't making sense because voting for one of 2 shitty candidates isn't much of an imput.
If a candidate can promise lower taxes and to restore everything that the previous liars have never fixed or restored and claim moral superiority against their low-life, stupid opponents... aren't we fools to vote as if it might matter?
An example of this silliness is Republicans claiming the Democrats will raise taxes (presumably by giving stuff away to the poor) when the last 8 years of Bush have put us in the biggest financial mess since the 1920s.
Any thoughts?

Re: political opinion on the US presidential race

Good one, Bob.

In my last years in Italy I had a similar attitude. Most of the times, the politicians were all so equally disgusting that I chose not to vote. But when Mr. Berlusconi (the smartest italian criminal) decided to enter the scene in the mid 90s, I went back to vote against him.

In the US case too, for me it's quite clear who's the least bad and if I could I would vote...

In other words, go to vote to try to avoid the worse.

Re: political opinion on the US presidential race

Is it really that bad?

The US is on an inevitable path to economic chaos due to an unmanagable debt, which will drag the rest of the world with it, and you have to vote for the least incompetent to fix it?

I think I will go sailing tomorrow!

Well, that's my problem too! I have no idea who of this two will make less harm.

Russian: Unless he corrects me, I guess that Giampaolo would go with me on Obama. McCain, who finished almost last in his class of 900, seems to show it when he talks and that's way too much like Bush. Obama, despite all the racism and suggestions of Muslim ties, seems to be less dangerous, will make progress in foreign affairs with a softer line and less apt to bring further financial destruction to my children and grandchildren. And the world could not stand Palin as president if something happened.

Die USA ist auf eine unvermeidlich Weg zu wirtschaftliche chaos Dank eine unmanagable Schulden, den den rest der Welt, ziehen wird und Sie müssen für die zuletzt unfähig, es zu beheben stimmen?

Dolf, you've been listening to my hero George Carlin. ;-)
