Re: Breaking news in F1...
Long but fun. I'm a bike guy first and foremost. Used to race, was a mechanic (mostly Ducati, BMW, Yamaha). I've kept a lot of the bikes I owned, considering I started at 15 and I'm 61, that's a few.
I have the MV 750 Senna. Great bike, fast as hell. Comes with two exhaust systems. I took the noisier one and gutted it, remapped the FI on a friends dyno. 149 at the rear wheel. I still don't really believe it. But when it hits the limiter at 13,900 RPM it makes your hair stand up.
I agree that big horsepower isn't that important on the street. I have one of the Kenny Dreer Norton 880 sprints. Makes me feel like I'm 19 again when I ride it. Probably has 60 HP but i toast a lot of sportbike guys with it on twisty stuff. Skinny tires, but good handling and torque to pull the bike back up. Some of those guys can ride, but a lot of them wear their tires out in the middle (if they wear them out at all).
Got a bunch of bikes, way to many to list. A '50 vincent black shadow, the prototype for the new vincent (Honda RC51 engine, frame and running gear by Roush)--I have the touring version. I invested in the company and part of the deal was I got one of the prototypes: http://www.vincentmotors.com/BIK/touring.php .There's only one of them. If we ever do make these bikes they'll have a different engine, the Honda deal didn't work out. Couple of Gold Stars, lots of japanese stuff (FZR1000, FJ1300, etc.) plenty of dirt bikes. My old Matchless G80CS Desert Sled, some BMW airheads, other stuff. I'm not a collector, I just don't like selling bikes.
there's some incidental toy pictures in this gallery. http://gallery.mac.com/billbab#100006&a … amp;sel=14
f you look carefully at the senna pictures you'll note the exhaust has big holes in the back. Nuttin' in 'em.
